University of Nebraska–Lincoln's Commitment to Nebraska's Future

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln continues its commitment to supporting student access to higher education through financial aid. Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Form is a critical step for students and families securing financial aid resources. The university encourages students across all academic levels (undergraduate, graduate and professional) to file the FAFSA Form to maximize financial support.

What is the FAFSA?

The FAFSA is a form that students fill out to determine their eligibility for financial aid. The form is available to degree-seeking students across all academic levels (undergraduate, graduate and professional) who are U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens. Financial aid includes federal grants, such as the Federal Pell Grant, state grants like the Nebraska Opportunity Grant, and various forms of scholarships and aid provided directly by colleges and universities.

"Do the FAFSA, Nebraska"

In recent months, a statewide campaign was launched to aim at increasing FAFSA Form completion rates of Nebraska residents.  The campaign, "Do the FAFSA, Nebraska,” is a collaborative effort involving the EducationQuest Foundation and other community partners. Through various channels of outreach, students across Nebraska are encouraged to complete the FAFSA Form as a key step in their college planning process. These efforts are set to continue into the next year, with a focus on ensuring every high school senior in Nebraska is prepared to make informed decisions about their future.

Nebraska Promise: Ensuring Access to Higher Education

The FAFSA is also used to identify students eligible for the Nebraska Promise program, one of the university’s cornerstone financial aid programs for Nebraska students. The program provides undergraduate Nebraska residents with a family income of $65,000 or below, the opportunity to attend the university without tuition costs, covering up to 15 credits per semester.

Assistance for Students and Families

As the new academic year approaches, the university encourages current and incoming students who have not yet filed the FAFSA Form to do so as soon as possible. The process can be started at studentaid.gov/fafsa. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln's federal FAFSA code is 002565. Students who encounter any issues or have questions can contact Husker Hub, the university’s one-stop shop for financial aid and enrollment services.

In addition to the support provided on campus, students and families in the surrounding community and statewide can visit one of EducationQuest Foundation's college planning locations for further assistance with the FAFSA Form, whether a student attends or plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
