  • If you are a first-time borrower of a federal direct student loan you will need to complete:
  • These two items above will be listed in your “To Do List” in MyRED. Your accepted student loans will not be applied to your student account, until these two items are completed.
  • If you are approved for an alternative loan, there is 14-business day delay (cancellation period without penalty) before funds can be applied to your student account. Please keep this in mind for planning purposes.

The Federal Direct PLUS Loan Program assists eligible parents in meeting educational expenses by allowing parents to borrow up to the cost of attendance minus other resources. The U.S. Department of Education is the lender and delivers the loan money to you through the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. Students must be attending school at least half-time to be eligible.
