Student Bills

Your monthly bill includes your tuition, fees, University housing and meals. It could also include bookstore, parking, health center charges as well as athletic tickets and other on-campus NCard purchases. Your bill is available in MyRED by the 25th of each month and due the 12th of the following month. You will receive an email from Student Accounts each month when your bill is available to view online.

If you fail to pay your bill, there will be a $35 Late Payment Fee and a Delinquent Hold. Delinquent accounts will have a hold placed, which prevents further registration as well as preventing release of transcripts and/or diplomas. NCard charging privileges may be stopped until the account is brought current. The account must be brought current to have this hold removed.

You have access to your student bill from anywhere at anytime. All consolidated bill statements are available through MyRED. To access your online bill-follow these instructions.

Online Course Fee Cap

When students mix course delivery formats between In-Person/Web Conferencing courses and Online courses during a semester or across the summer sessions, they will have their combined University Program and Facilities Fee (UPFF) and Online Course Fee capped. The maximum charge will be the full UPFF plus one 3-credit hour online course.

2023-24 academic year:
$670.63 UPFF + $105 ($35 x 3 online credit hours) = $775.63 Online Course Fee Cap

Summer 2024:
$262.48 UPFF + $105 ($35 x 3 online credit hours) = $367.48 Online Course Fee Cap

Web Conferencing courses are charged the UPFF assessment.

Students will see both fee types on their bill and will receive a "Fee Reduction."

The Online Course Fee Cap does not include technology, library or other course and lab fees. Course and lab fees are specific to a course and charges on applicable courses will be indicated in the 'Class Notes' of the section. Mandatory fees are listed on the Student Accounts website.

Classroom Course Delivery

Classroom courses are designed to provide real-time interaction between an instructor and students in a group setting. In-Person and Web Conferencing course delivery methods rely on real-time, face-to-face interaction in a traditional classroom or through a web-based video conferencing platform like Zoom with supplemental course materials made available through Canvas.

Online Course Delivery

Online courses are created with different methodologies and tools than classroom courses. Instead of real-time, face-to-face interaction with an instructor, these courses are designed to allow students to move forward independently through course modules without a traditional classroom experience. Most courses have an instructional designer and media services team who provide support to instructors to help design these modules, which are fully developed before the class begins. Online courses provide students the most flexibility with their coursework.

University Program and Facilities Fee

This fee is associated with enrollment in In-Person and Web Conferencing courses and supports the vital functions that are associated with residential, experiential learning at the university. Examples of programs and facilities that enrich and enliven the on-campus experience include Campus Recreation, University Program Council, Campus NightLife, Recognized Student Organizations, Nebraska Unions, Gaughan Center, Women's and LGBTQA+ Centers, Center for Advocacy, Response and Education, Counseling and Psychological Services, University Health Center, ASUN Student Government, Husker Pantry, Student Money Management, Daily Nebraskan, and Big Red Resilience and Well-being. Many of these opportunities are available to students in-person and virtually.

Online Course Fee

This fee is associated with the support and resources provided to instructors by the university's team of instructional design specialists within the Center for Transformative Teaching and individual colleges. Examples of support include designing course structure and organization for independent learning modules, preparing course materials to support those modules, enhancing engagement and community for classes without real-time interaction, and methods for assessing student learning and maintaining academic excellence for highly flexible courses.
